Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Acts 5:3
In Acts 15:32, we can see that the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Today, we are His disciples, a disciple is the one who accepts Jesus as Lord and follow Him wholeheartedly by dying to sin and living for righteousness. One who accepts Jesus and still continue in old sinful way is not a disciple but just a convert and has not seen the light. A disciple is the one who truly loves the Lord, Jesus said if you love me then you will obey my command.
God called us to live for righteousness by being filled with the Holy Spirit, so that we can be His witnesses. We cannot live a holy life without being filled with Holy Spirit. Scripture says, So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 1 Peter 1:14
Paul was filled with Holy Spirit (Acts 13:9), Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 4:8), all the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 15:32). Today, God called us to be filled with His Holy Spirit. Because, Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Let us always be filled with His Spirit. Let us submit to God and resist devil for he will flee.
In Acts 5:3, we can see that Ananias heart was filled with Satan to sin against Holy Spirit. Disobedience to God will open a big door for enemy to come inside anyone’s heart, enemy comes only to kill, steal and destroy. Also, the desires of the flesh is always contrary to the Spirit. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Gal 5:19-21) Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
