Encouragement

Encourage one another and build each other up, 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Praise God! In Acts chapter 4 we can see that Joseph, who was called Barnabas (son of encouragement) by the apostles brought Saul to them when they were all afraid of Saul and did not believe that he was truly a disciple. Even though the Jews plotted to kill Saul, Barnabas stepped in and took a risk by lending a helping hand to Saul for him to be accepted by the apostles. When a large number of Gentiles in Antioch believed and turned to the Lord, the church at Jerusalem sent Barnabas there. When he saw the power and grace of God, he was filled with joy and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord. Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith. Acts 11:24

Likewise in 2 Timothy we can see that Paul encouraged Timothy whom he called as his beloved son to pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, to be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus and to endure suffering with him for the gospel without shame.

Statistics show that many people who go to casino are elderly people who are lonely. They do not have much people to hang out and spend time with. There is no one to encourage, offer help or have fellowship with them. But God’s Word tells us to encourage those who are discouraged, help the weak, be patient with everyone, encourage one another daily and strengthen them. Edify others by sharing God’s love, His Word and pray with them.
