Being Humble

Praise God! We like people who are humble, we appreciate them and love to keep them in our circle. How good would it be if we were that person!! Yeah, God loves the people who are humble and guides them. It is not just outward humbleness but truly being humble in heart. Psalm 25:9 says, He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. God instructs and leads them in the right way. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Numbers 12:3 says, Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. We can have a true intimate personal relationship with God only when we are humble.

King Manasseh led Judah and the people of Jerusalem astray, they did more evil in the sight of the Lord and did not obey God. Manasseh was taken as prisoner to Babylon by the army commanders of the king of Assyria. When Manasseh humbled himself greatly before God and prayed, God heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom and he finally realized that the Lord alone is God! 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. The situation that you are facing through may be worse but when you humble yourself and submit to God by doing His will, He will set everything right. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.

In the wilderness God led the people of Israel all the way in the desert for forty years and fed them with manna which their fathers did not know, in order to humble them and test them and to know what was in their heart and whether they would keep His commands or not. He brought down rulers from their thrones and exalted those who were humble. When Nebuchadnezzar became proud, God humbled him. Daniel 4:37, And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

Jesus Christ came to this world and bore all our sins and died on the cross for us. He emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant and He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, He denied His will and did the will of the Father. Jesus came not to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. Jesus says in Matthew 11:29, Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. God wants each and every one of us to humble ourselves and submit totally to Him. God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours, He knows what is best for us, He has plans to prosper us and to give us hope and a future. God gives everything beautiful in its time, our part is to be humble and wait patiently for His time. 1 Peter 5:6 says, Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
