I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27

World is watching soccer world cup, though soccer is not an athletic game, the soccer team players need to maintain their body like an athlete, training it to do what it should, so that they can be fit and win the game. God’s Word teaches us to discipline our body so that we will not be disqualified in God’s Kingdom. Daniel disciplined his body and he determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king and Daniel had a disciplined prayer life.

In Mark 1:35-38, it is mentioned that Jesus went to a solitary place where he prayed. He wanted to listen to His Father and do His will everyday of His life even before Peter and his companions came and told Jesus everyone is looking for Him. But, Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else to the nearby villages so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” Jesus was always listening from Father and praying to do His Father’s will, Jesus is our example to follow. We should always do God’s will no matter what others are telling us to do. Pray!

There are so many areas in which we need to discipline our body, some of the areas includes what we are watching on TV, while using Internet, being faithful in marriage, regarding money matters, eating, shopping, habits, etc. How can we have discipline in every areas of our life? The answer is simple, by giving our heart to God! In a train, engine is important, where the engine goes there goes all the cars or compartments attached to it. Likewise, when we give our heart to God then every areas of life will be governed by Lord and it will be a blessing!

First, live under grace. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:14 Always grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, live under grace for you will overcome sin by His grace. Every undisciplined act results in sin, but when we give our hearts to God and live under grace then sin shall not rule over us or we will have disciplined life because we have the mind of Christ! Second, receive the power of the Holy Spirit so that you can be His witnesses. Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 Finally, always remain in Jesus! God bless you!
